![]() Several release cycles ago, we started working on improving Excel file support on platforms other than Windows. Writing BigTIFF files is also possible, although the process is more complicated. ![]() The function imread can now read BigTIFF files. A variant called BigTIFF was designed to break through this limit. The original TIFF image file format was limited to a file size of 4 GB or less. As usual, they've speeded up and added multithreading capability to more MATLAB math functions, including the special functions airy, psi, and several Bessel functions. I work on the same hallway as the MATLAB Math team, so I get to eavesdrop on what they're doing. I was interested to see some improvements in R2012b for the Mac, such as support for full-screen view mode. Other product or brand names may be trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective holders.I became a Mac owner for the first time this summer, so I've been learning more about Macs and about MATLAB on the Mac for the past few months. See /trademarks for a list of additional trademarks. MATLAB and Simulink are registered trademarks of The MathWorks, Inc. Founded in 1984, MathWorks employs more than 5000 people in 16 countries, with headquarters in Natick, Massachusetts, USA. MATLAB and Simulink are also fundamental teaching and research tools in the world's universities and learning institutions. Engineers and scientists worldwide rely on these product families to accelerate the pace of discovery, innovation, and development in automotive, aerospace, electronics, financial services, biotech-pharmaceutical, and other industries. Simulink is a block diagram environment for simulation and Model-Based Design of multidomain and embedded engineering systems. MATLAB, the language of engineers and scientists, is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization, and numeric computation. MathWorks is the leading developer of mathematical computing software. For information on all new products, enhancements, and bug fixes to the MATLAB and Simulink product families, visit the R2021b Highlights page. R2021b is available immediately worldwide. In addition to the new products, R2021b includes major updates to Symbolic Math Toolbox, Lidar Toolbox, and Simulink Control Design, and other products in the areas of Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Predictive Maintenance, and Statistics and Machine Learning. The toolbox supports standard-compliant IBIS-AMI models for statistical and time-domain simulation to analyze equalization and clock recovery. Users can generate experiments covering multiple parameters, extract design metrics, and visualize waveforms and results. Signal Integrity Toolbox provides functions and apps for designing high-speed serial and parallel links. Toolbox support for ODB++ and databases from Cadence ® Allegro ®, Mentor Expedition, Altium ®, and Zuken enables signal integrity engineers to analyze the high-speed portions of the PCB layout. RF PCB Toolbox enables the design, analysis, and visualization of high-speed and RF multi-layer printed circuit boards (PCBs). RF engineers can design components with parameterized or arbitrary geometry, including distributed passive structures such as traces, bends, and vias. Using the frequency-domain method of moments and other EM techniques, coupling, dispersion, and parasitic effects can be modeled. ![]() R2021b also introduces new products supporting wireless communications: ![]() Simulink updates enable users to run multiple simulations for different scenarios from the Simulink Editor and to create custom tabs in the Simulink Toolstrip. New capabilities in MATLAB include code refactoring and block editing, as well as the ability to run Python commands and scripts from MATLAB. Release 2021b (R2021b) offers hundreds of new and updated features and functions in MATLAB ® and Simulink ®, along with two new products and five major updates. MathWorks today introduced Release 2021b of the MATLAB and Simulink product families.
